Olivia Parker, a Chickasaw student majoring in performing arts at Texas A&M University, discusses the collaboration with her fellow students to produce her performing arts piece These Walls. It featured different aspects of the performing arts including dance, music and lyric. Olivia and her team worked to overcome challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, limiting physical contact and communicating via email or Zoom.
“In the end it was worth it. Not only because I think we created something really beautiful, but for us it was a physical and hands-on experience full of creative problem-solving, which is a good life skill, but the only way that I think any of us got through the pandemic.”
